The creator of this website, Dr. Elizabeth Kelly, PH.D., RN. APN-RN, CHW I is both an educator and an advance practice nurse in community health. These previous experiences and education have maintained her interest in the learning process as well as how others learn. Working with health interests and topics within a community setting is different from the actions and activities of a nurse meeting a patient in a clinical or hospital setting. Within the latter setting, policy generally guides the work of the nurse. Community-based learning and practice on the other hand begins with conversations between and among members of a community and someone from human services. Community members can be closely related such as a family or as extended and inclusive as a school, church, or community organization.
Currently all aspects of human services – health care, social services, education – are changing rapidly. This website seeks to engage other individuals from a variety of communities to engage in conversation through this website in order to find innovative solutions for change.
